    Institute for Economic Ethics

    Ⅰ. Basic Introduction

    The institute was found in 2000, subordinate to NJNU(Nanjing Normal University), with Professor Wang Xiaoxi as the director, Professor Li Ping, Professor Wang Lulu, Professor Li Zhixiang as deputy directors.

    The purpose of the Institute for Economic Ethics is to contact the national economic ethics researchers and fully construct the subject of economic ethics. With an effort to build the system of theories of economic ethics, the institute will also research on the teaching and practice of economic ethics, to make due contributions to the progress of the society.

    The research directions of economic ethics include economic ethics principle, Marxist economic ethics thought, Chinese and foreign economic ethics thought history, moral capital, market economic ethics, business ethics, rural economic ethics, financial credit ethics, financial ethics, etc.

    Main work and relevant remarkable achievements since the establishment: Firstly, having held the annual national academic conference on economic ethics as well as several special academic seminars such as ‘Economic Ethics and Enterprise Development’, ‘Economic Ethics and a Better Life’ and so on; Secondly, undertaking a number of national social science fund projects, such as ‘Research on the General History of China’s Economic Ethics Thought’(Major), ‘Business Ethics and Core Competitiveness of Enterprise’, and ‘Research on the System of Contemporary China’s Economic Ethics’, which all have been successfully completed; Thirdly, having written and published Economic Ethics, The Theory of Moral Capital, On Moral Capital, Moral Capital and Economic Ethics, Study on Deng Xiaoping’s Economic Ethics thought, Business Ethics and Enterprise Development, etc. Among these books, On Moral Capital and The Theory of Moral Capital have been translated into English, Japanese, Serbian and Thai, published abroad. The English and Serbian version of On Moral Capital obtained the 14th and 16th Prize for Excellent Export Books. And the English version of On Moral Capital was also awarded by the scheme of Book Copyright Export Award. At the same time, a series of influential monographic research articles have been published on academic journals such as Social Sciences in China, Philosophical Research, Philosophical Trends, Morality and Civilization, Studies in Ethics, etc. Fourthly, having established the information base of economic ethics academic research. Since 2000, China Economic Ethics Yearbook have been published annually. Finally, having strengthened international communication. The institute has held the ‘Moral Capital and Enterprise Management’ international seminar, and an international conference of economic ethics associated with Britain association of economic ethics in London, as well as many international seminars with relevant domestic institutes in China. Famous celebrities such as philosopher Gilbert, economic ethicist Endele from US as well as German economic ethicist Kosnovsky were invited to the institute for communication.

    The institute will be led by the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, guided by the indomitable spirit for academic research, serve for the economic ethics construction, the talent cultivation, the socio-economic development, and make effort to enhance the domestic and international influence of economic ethics.

    Ⅱ.About the director of the institute

    Wang Xiaoxi, male, born in November 1951, Liyang, Jiangsu province. He got a graduate student degree, as well as a Ph.D. degree of philosophy. He is a professor, working as a doctoral supervisor, enjoying special government allowances of the State Council. Now working as the director of the Institute of Marxism in Nanjing Normal University, which is the key research base among universities and colleges in Jiangsu province, he is also the director of Institute of Economic Ethics in NJNU. He used to be a member of the Teaching Steering Committee of public administration in higher vocational colleges under the Ministry of Education, as well as the vice president of China Association for Ethical Studies and the dean of School of Public Administration in NJNU. Xiaoxi is also known as chief expert of the Central Marxist Theory Research and Development Project, and chief expert of major projects of the National Social Science Fund.

    He is currently the honorary vice president of China Association for Ethical Studies, the chairman of the Professional Committee of Economic Ethics, the director of Institute of Corporate Ethics culture of China Association for Ethical Studies, the honorary president of Marxism Theory Research Society of Jiangsu Province, the executive president of Jiangsu Ethics Society, the director of Institute of Economic Ethics of the Research Center of Ethics and Moral Construction of Renmin University of China, which is a key research base of the Ministry of Education. He is a professor and researcher working in many universities and research institutes. His books The Traditional Theory of Moral Capital in Chinese Intellectual History, The Theory of Moral Capital, On Moral Capital were translated into English, Korean, Japanese, Serbian and Thai and published overseas.

    Institute for Enterprise Ethics

    Ⅰ. Basic Introduction

    The Institute for Enterprise Ethics is located in Henan University of Economics and Law. It was founded on October 22th, 2002. Three practice bases of the institute were also set up at the same time. This institute is one of the two oldest institutes of the center. The director of the institute is Qiao Farong, who is a professor working in Henan University of Economics and Law. The institute consists of 15 members, with three research directions: enterprise ethics theory and practice, economic ethics theory and practice, as well as theory and practice on the social responsibility of enterprise. Experts and scholars include: Lu Xiaohe, who is a researcher of the Institute of Philosophy of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, also the vice president of China Association for Ethical Studies, the executive member of ISBEE (International Society of Business, Economics, and Ethics) (2000-2008, 2016-), and a doctoral supervisor; Gao Guoxi, who is the professor the School of Marxism in Fudan University, also the New Century Excellent Researcher Award Program from Ministry of Education of China, the executive member of ISBEE(2008-2011), and a doctoral supervisor; Linbin, who is a member of the think tank of National Federation of Industry and Commerce, also the director of the Social Responsibility Research Center of China Brand Strategic Planning Institute, the group leader of Chinese private enterprise social responsibility report research group of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and the deputy director of the Corporate Social Responsibility Research Center of CASS(Chinese Academy of Social Sciences); Cheng Wenjin, who is a professor of MBA school of Henan University of Economics and Law, also a doctoral supervisor for Newcastle Business School of Northumbria University, the vice chairman of the Enterprise Culture Committee of China Management Association, and vice president of the Economic Ethics Association of Henan Province; Zhang Xinning, who is a researcher of the School of Marxism in Fudan University.

    Since the institute established 17 years ago, the key researchers of this institute have published a number of innovative achievements with academic achievements and important application value, and are at the forefront of the theoretical research on business ethics and economic ethics(evaluated by Liu Guoguang and Wang Fulin, who both are famous senior Chinese scholars of economic ethics). In terms of practice, the institute held the policy-making of the system of provincial and national standards for industrial social responsibility, and made the annual Research Report on Corporate Social Responsibility, came up with the idea of building a large pattern for enterprise social responsibility with the guiding of government, the practice of enterprises and the push of society through system and mechanism. In terms of international academic communication, the translation of books, the development of China enterprise and economic ethics, Lu Xiaohe made a great effort. He chiefly edited five sets of total 25 books, established and held sorts of more than 50 international forums.

    Ⅱ.About the director of the institute

    Qiao Farong is a second-class professor of Henan University of Economics and Law. He has been awarded the Special Allowance of the State Council and excellent expert of provincial administration, academic leader of the province, provincial ‘May Day Labor Medal’ and other titles. He is also deputy director of Professional Committee on Economics of CAES (China Association for Ethical Studies), key member of the revision group of Ethics (2017-), which is a key textbook of the Project to Study and Develop Marxism Theory. He is also the president of Henan Economic Ethics Association, the academic leader for provincial key and first-level discipline philosophy, the chief expert of the first group of provincial philosophy and social science innovation team. He has been the director of the Institute for Enterprise Ethics of the Research Center of Ethics and Moral Construction of Renmin University of China since 2002.

    He led and completed 5 national social science fund projects, such as Research on the Ethical Issues of State-owned Enterprise Managers, and won 24 provincial or above excellent achievement awards; He has published more than 200 papers on Philosophical Studies, Marxism and Reality, and Ethics Studies; He has also published 18 books, such as Corporate Ethics Culture, Labor Ethics, and Circular Economy: Ethical Research on Green Development.

    Institute for Marxist Ethics

    Ⅰ. Basic Introduction

    The Institute for Marxist Ethics was founded in 2015. Its current director is Professor Li Yitan, who have tenure at the School of Marxism of Tsinghua University. He is also awarded as Young Changjiang Scholar by the Ministry of Education. Since 2015, the institute has initiated and annually organized ‘National Forum on Marxist Ethics’, which has been held successfully for five sessions by 2019, attracting extensive participation of scholars from different disciplines such as ethics, Marxist philosophy, political philosophy, ideological and political education and so on, formed a good academic reputation. In January 2020, Marxism and Ethics, a journal started in 2019, sponsored by the institute, will be published by Social Sciences Academic Press(China). The journal will be edited by Wu Fulai, who is the deputy secretary and the secretary of discipline Inspection of C.P.C of Renmin University of China. Also in 2020, another publication edited by Wu Fulai, A Series of Books on Marxist Ethics in the New Era, will be published by Chongqing Press. And in the same year, The History of Marxism Ethical Thoughts (four volumes), the final result of a major project of National Social Science Fund chaired by Professor Li Yitian will also be published. This work took three years to complete, telling the development track of Marxism ethical thoughts in major countries and regions of the world in past 180 years with a clear clue. Since its establishment, the institute set research columns on Marxist Ethics in some important domestic newspapers and magazines, with a number of high quality research achievements of Marxist ethics, which made outstanding contributions to deepening and developing the research on Marxist ethics in the new era.

    Ⅱ.About the director of the institute

    Li Yitian, male, was born in Wuhan, Hubei Province in October 1979. He is a member of the Communist Party of China. He was admitted to a pilot class in humanities of Wuhan University in 1998 and received his bachelor degree of arts in 2002. In September the same year, he was admitted to the Department of Philosophy of Tsinghua University to study for doctor of philosophy, which he obtained in 2007.

    The doctoral supervisor got his tenure at the School of Marxism of Tsinghua University. He is also awarded as Young Changjiang Scholar by the Ministry of Education. He is chief expert for The History of Marxism Ethical Thoughts, which is a major project of National Social Science Fund of China. He is awarded by the second annual ‘Top Ten Outstanding Young Scholars of Chinese Ethics’, the first prize of the second ‘Academic Achievement Award of China Association for Ethical Studies’ (2015), the first prize of the first ‘He Lin Youth Philosophy Award’ (2017), and nomination prize of the eighth ‘Hu Sheng Youth Academic Award’ (2018). The director is also deputy secretary general of China Association for Ethical Studies, deputy secretary general of Beijing Association for Ethical Studies, researcher of Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies of Hubei University, reviewer of Social Sciences in China and other journals.

    He has published monographs: Virtue Ethics and Moral Diversity (2012), Virtue, Mind, and Action (2016), Defend Normality (2018), and translated works: World Civilizations (2012), Marxism and the Moral Point of View (2014), On Virtue Ethics (2016), and edited: Know Something About World Philosophy (2005, 2007, 2010), Marx and the Theory of Justice (2010), Community and Political Solidarity (2011). He also co-edited the academic collection Marxism and Ethics and presided over the academic series Marxist Ethics in the New Era.

    He has also published over 90 articles in Chinese and foreign journals such as Social Sciences in China, Philosophical Research, Academic Monthly, Guangming Daily, International Journal of China Studies and so on. A number of his articles were reprinted by Xinhua Digest, Chinese Social Science Digest and Replicated Journals of Renmin University of China.

    Institute for Political Ethics

    Ⅰ. Basic Introduction

    The Institute for Political Ethics was founded in 2017.

    It was jointly established by ethics teaching and research institutes of Zhejiang Normal University, Central South University, Tsinghua University, Hunan Normal University and Party School of the Central Committee of C.P.C. It is affiliated to Institute of State Governance Studies of Zhejiang Normal University. Professor Li Jianhua was appointed as the director, Professor Feng Haoqing and Professor Zuo Gaoshan as the deputy director.

    Standing on reality in China, drawing lessons from international experience, according to the requirement of ‘urgent need, world class, flexible mechanism, significant contribution’, the institute is committed to research on significant theory and practice of political ethics in governance and the future development of China. The goal of the institute is to explore the political and ethical resources and support conditions for China’s path, model and experience, to improve the socialist political system with Chinese characteristics, and to provide theoretical reference and decision-making advice for the modernization of governance system and capacity.

    The institute actively promotes China’s political development strategy and the superiority of socialist political system with Chinese characteristics, positively participates in global governance and global issues to explore, observing and thinking China in a much broader vision, enhancing China’s political and ethical discourse power through in-depth participation in international dialogue, exhibiting to the world a more comprehensive and objective understanding of China’s political ethics theory and great practice.

    The institute mainly conducts research on major national strategies such as modernization of the national governance, the Party’s exercise of strict self-governance, political civilization and global governance. Five research directions are included: 1. Research on basic theory of political ethics (in the charge of Prof. Li Jianhua, Prof. Dai Mucai, Prof. Peng Dingguang), 2. Party ethics (Prof. Zuo Gaoshan, Prof. Jin Fenglin, Prof. Zhou Jinping), 3. Chinese and western political ethical thoughts and comparison (Prof. Yao Dazhi, Prof. Gao Hengtian, Prof. Wang Kun) 4. Construction and application of political ethics of socialism with Chinese Characteristics (Prof. Xiao Xiang, Prof. Li Yitian, Prof. Tan Qingbi) 5. Global Governance and international political ethics (Prof. Feng Haoqing, Prof. Xiang Yuqiao, Prof. Liu Yu ). The institute carries out routine work according to the requirements of ‘five ones’ –a good academic journal, a high-end forum, a Wechat official account, a website and a set of books.

    With an open and project-oriented management pattern, the institute brought together more than 50 scholars engaged researching on political ethics, 20 more of whom are professors. Since its establishment, the institute has undertaken 6 projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China for philosophy, held 6 academic conferences, published over 40 high-level papers and 11 academic books, among which the National Governance and Modern Ethics research series (six volumes) has had a wide influence. The academic journal of the institute, Ethics and Public Affairs, has been changed into a semi-annual journal. And by constantly pushing good articles related to political ethics, the official account ‘Ethics and Publicity’ has already formed certain influence in academic circles.

    The institute will continue raising funds, integrating research resources, focusing theory frontiers and launching series of achievements, in order to build the institute into a first-class political ethics research base in China with global influence and distinctive Chinese characteristics in about 15 years.

    Ⅱ.About the director of the institute

    Li Jianhua, male, Doctor of Philosophy, is a member of the seventh Discipline Assessment Group (Philosophy) of academic degrees committee of the State Council. He is also identified as distinguished professor in Changjiang Scholar project of the Ministry of Education. Professor Li Jianhua is doctoral supervisor in Zhejiang Normal University and Central South University. He is also executive president of China Association for Ethical Studies, an expert of planning review of the National Social Science Fund of China for philosophy, an academic judge of National Publication Foundation, an expert of ‘Marxist Theory Research Project’ of publicity department of the CPC Central Committee, and the president of Hunan Association for Ethical Studies. He is interested in basic theory of morality and ethics, political ethics, traditional Chinese ethics, etc. He led 5 projects of the National Social Science Fund of China for philosophy. He has published more than 500 academic articles on journals such as Social Sciences in China and Philosophical Research. He has also published (as author or chief editor) more than 40 books such as On Moral Sentiments, Modern Rules of Virtue, The Theory for Drawing on Good and Avoiding Evil, Ethics of Officials, and National Governance and Political Ethics. He has won more than 40 provincial and ministerial scientific research and teaching awards.

    Institute for Professional Ethics

    Ⅰ. Basic Introduction

    The Institute for Professional Ethics, submitted to the Center for Ethics and Moral Construction of Renmin University of China, was founded in 2017 at the Humboldt Forum Education Conference in Beijing. The institute aims at pushing the research on application of industry professional ethics, through approaches such as pushing empirical research, developing related courses, combining with industry association to establish ethics commission and planning codes of enterprise ethics, to get through the joint and hub of ordinary higher education and vocational education in promoting the construction of professional ethics and civic morality, and to contribute to the improvement of workers’ professional quality and industry self-discipline.

    What the institute has accomplished: The first seminar on professional ethics and ideological & political education was held in 2017; The first seminar on innovation and ideological & political teaching resources construction in higher vocational colleges was held in 2018.

    What the institute plans to do: Investigate on professional ethics among vocational colleges, general institutes of higher education and higher educational research institutes during 2018-2020 and publish Investigation Report on Professional Ethics in China; Integrate professional ethics into vocational education and develop a number of courses of professional ethics specially designed for vocational colleges in 2020-2021; Cooperate with various industry associations and chambers of commerce, promote the construction of ethics committees in various industries in China during 2021-2023; Launch the campaign for the code of ethics of Chinese enterprises in the process of promoting the establishment of the professional ethics committee, and further promote the extension of professional ethics to enterprises from 2023 to 2024.

    Composition of the institute: Part-time researchers, including secretaries of C.P.C and presidents of vocational colleges and general institutes of higher education; heads of industry association; professional ethics researchers and relevant researchers in enterprises working on industrial self-discipline.

    Ⅱ.About the director of the institute

    Lu Chunyang, deputy director of National E-commerce Vocational Education Teaching Guidance Committee, is also known as an executive member of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education. He is a member of National Technical Standardization of Auction Committee. He is also a master tutor for vocational and technical education in Beijing Union University.

    Institute of Bioethics

    1.Basic Introduction

    The Institute compromises Professor Qiu Renzong as the director of Bioethics Research Institute, Center for Ethical Studies of Renmin University of China, Associate Professor Wang Fuling as the deputy director of the institute, and Professor Zhai Xiaomei as a researcher formally hired. And Professor Gong Ying, Professor Lei Ruipeng, Professor Zhu Wei, Professor Jia Ping and Associate Professor Ma Yonghui cooperate in research and jointly organize meetings with the Institute.

    The academic research of the Institute of Bioethics mainly includes Clinical Ethics, Bio-medicine and Health Research Ethics and Public Health. It focuses on the ethical issues of advanced Life Sciences, Biotechnology and Medicine, and provides think tank advice for the government and the legislative department. Qiu Renzong, the director of the institute, has published 20 important papers, alone or in collaboration with other units, including 5 in English. The most outstanding achievement is the English review article “Reboot Ethics Governance in China” written by researcher Qiu Renzong as the corresponding author, together with Lei Ruipeng, Zhai Xiaomei and Zhu Wei, which was published in the international authoritative scientific journal Nature (Vol. 569, page 184-186, May 9, 2019). This is the first paper published by Chinese scholars of humanities and social sciences in Nature. It has been highly praised at home and abroad, and promoted the competent authorities to strengthen the supervision of emerging technologies. Qiu Renzong and Zhai Xiaomei were also invited to attend the 2nd International Summit on Human Genome Editing held in Hong Kong in November 2018 and both spoke at the conference. The Institute of Bioethics, either alone or jointly with other institutions, organized several seminars and bioethics forums in Beijing. The seminar on “Science, Ethics and Policy” organized in February 2018 and the preparatory meeting of the seminar on “Human Genome Editing: Science, Ethics and Governance” jointly organized in 2019 both had great influence.

    On the basis of ethical studies, the Institute of Bioethics submitted nine policy recommendations to the National People’s Congress, the National Health Commission and the Science and Technology Ministry, including suggestions on the revision of Regulations on the Clinical Application of New Biomedical Technologies (Draft for Comments) issued by the National Health Commission (submitted in September 2019), The Research Report on Robot Ethical Standards (drafted by Lei ruipeng and Qiu Renzong, submitted in May 2019), and suggestions on the amendment of The Basic Medical Health and Wellness Promotion Law (Draft) to the National People's Congress (submitted in December 2018), and Ethical Standards and Management Policies of Human Biological Sample Database and Suggestions on Intellectual Property Management Policies (drafted by Lei ruipeng, Qiu Renzong, Zhai Xiaomei, etc., submitted in July 2018) . Most of them have been well received by relevant governmental agencies.

    2. Introduction of the Director

    Qiu Renzong, born in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, graduated from the School of Literature, Tsinghua University. He is a researcher of the Institute of Philosophy and honorary director of Center for Applied Ethics Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He is also the director of Academic Committee of Bioethics Center of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences/Peking Union Medical College, the director and professor of Center for Bioethics Studies of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, honorary director of Center for Bioethics Studies of Xiamen University, honorary chairmen of Bioethics Professional Committee of Chinese Society of Dialectics of nature, a lifetime member of Kennedy Institute of Ethics of Georgetown University, the fellow of American Hastings Center, and a member of International Institute of Philosophy. Besides, he is the winner of the World Technology Network Ethics Award in 2002, the winner of UNESCO Avicenna Prize for Ethics in Science in 2009 and the winner of American Henry Beecher Bioethics Award in 2o11.     Institute of Rural Morality and Cultural Revitalization

    1.Basic Introduction

    The Institute of Rural Morality and Cultural Revitalization is affiliated to Nanjing Normal University and is headed by Professor Wang lulu. The Institute has integrated research forces in rural ethics, folk culture, village governance and other aspects of Philosophy, Sociology, Marxist theory, Chinese Language and Literature, Geography, Journalism and Communication in Nanjing Normal University, and assembled experts and scholars in related research fields from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Nanjing University, China Agricultural University and other countries.     Main achievements: under the leadership of Professor Wang Lulu, the Institute of Rural Morality and Cultural Revitalization has successively carried out field surveys in rural areas of Hunan, Hubei, Gansu, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Shandong, Guangdong and other provinces, and achieved fruitful results in project approval, publication of monographs, and scientific research awards, which has an important impact. Among these results, “Research on Rural Ethics in China”(15zdb014), a national major bidding project of philosophy and social sciences presided over by Professor Wang Lulu, was successfully granted “Rolling Funding”, and on this basis, it was approved to establish “Center for Rural Culture Revitalization Studies” (approval No. 2018ZDJD_A005), a key research base of universities’ philosophy and social sciences in Jiangsu Province. Institutional members have published a series of academic papers in  Social Sciences in ChinaPhilosophical Research, Guangming Daily and other authoritative journals, many of which were reprinted by Xinhua Wenzhai and Chinese Social Science Digest, and won many honors such as outstanding achievements award of philosophy and social science in Jiangsu Province. In addition, Professor Zhu Xiaojin has participated in the national “two sessions” for many times, and submitted a speech to the conference during the “two sessions” in 2019 on the theme of “Effectively improving the level of public cultural services, gathering strength to boost the spirit of farmers”. Professor Zhu Xiaojin’s proposal has been widely concerned by the media.     Wang Lulu, professor and doctoral supervisor of Nanjing Normal University, the director of Human Resources Department of Nanjing Normal University and Teacher Work Department of Party committee. In recent years, she has presided over one major project of the National Social Science Fund, and accomplished one national key social science project, one youth project and one sub-topic of major project. And she has published 2 monographs, 1 coauthored book (first author) and more than 80 papers in Social Sciences in Chinaand other journals, more than 20 of which were reprinted in full by Xinhua Wenzhai. Besides, she has won twice the second and third prizes for outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences in Jiangsu Province, and been selected into the first ten outstanding young scholars of Chinese Ethics and training objects of young and middle-aged leading talents of the fifth “333 high-level talent training project” in Jiangsu Province.     Institute of World Folk Culture

    1. Basic Introduction

    The Institute of World Folkloric Culture Studies is an academic institution established by Center for Ethical Studies of Renmin University of China and Beijing Folk Custom Museum in 2018, specializing in the research and consulting services of world folk culture. The institute is committed to promoting the in-depth exchange of diverse folk cultures in the world. Through launching the World Folk Culture Development Alliance, regularly holding the world folk culture development forum, publishing folk custom research reports, holding folk culture exhibitions, and building online folk encyclopedia, the institute further promotes and inherits the excellent traditional culture of all ethnic groups in the world, further strengthens the construction of “the Belt and Road Initiative” and promotes the construction of the Community of Shared Future for Mankind in popular feeling.

    Since its establishment, the institute has held many academic seminars and international cultural exchange activities, which have been affirmed and praised by the Foreign Ministry. From June 16 to 20, 2019, at the invitation of the Chinese official mission to ASEAN, the Institute of World Folk Culture led a delegation to Jakarta, Indonesia, to hold the “ASEAN Tour of China Folk Culture”. Secretary-General Lin Yuhui, ASEAN leader, and the ten ASEAN ambassadors held a grand opening ceremony and launching ceremony at the ASEAN headquarters. This activity was an important measure for the institute to plan and implement “folk diplomacy”. “Folk diplomacy” is a new concept of non-governmental diplomacy proposed by the institute itself and approved by the central leadership. It shows people’s living habits, values and aesthetic taste in different countries and regions at the folk level. And it has practical non-governmental diplomatic effects, such as being close to reality, combining abstract values and physical skills, and stimulating people’s yearning for a better life. Through a series of activities, this form of non-governmental diplomacy has achieved very good results. It is a new and excellent path for Chinese excellent traditional culture to go out. And the “ASEAN Tour of China Folk Culture” activity verified the feasibility of this new form of non-governmental diplomacy once again. Under the promotion of ASEAN, the institute will hold the first “China—ASEAN Intangible Cultural Heritage Forum" in Manila, capital of Philippine,in 2020. And it will edit and publish a large-scale collection of folk culture called “Elegant Charm of the Silk Road”. From the perspective of the preliminary work and the current achievements, the series activities of folk culture initiated and led by the institute will become an important chapter to help “dialogue among Asian civilizations”.

    2.the Introduction of the Director

    Suiyan, formerly known as Hong Xiaoguang, also called the Host of Huiyinge, born in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province. He is now the curator of Suiyan Art Museum in Tokyo, Japan, the director of the Institute of World Folk Culture of Renmin University of China, consultant of Beijing Folk Custom Museum, and honorary chairman of Beijing Shijingshan Art Association. As a contemporary young artist and curator who is active in Beijing painting circle, he has been learning painting since his childhood, and he is good at traditional figures painting as well as the new modernist figure painting style based on the combination of traditional Chinese and Western painting techniques. His works are vigorous and expressive, with the solid foundation of traditional painting.

    1. Basic Introduction

    The Institute of Science and Technology Ethics is located in Dalian University of Technology, with Professor Li Lun as its director. Based on the Center for Ethics, Law and Society Studies of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence of Dalian University of Technology, relying on the advantages of Ethics of Renmin University of China, and the advantages of Philosophy, Science and Engineering of Dalian University of Technology, the institute has gathered many research forces in ethics, science and technology fields. It pays attention to the cross fusion of natural science and philosophy and social science and is engaged in research on emerging ethical issues of science and technology and their governance, especially in the key fields as the Internet, big data, artificial intelligence, biomedical science, advanced manufacturing, new materials, new energy and major projects, so as to promote the development of Science and Technology Ethics in China and serve the national strategy of innovation-driven development..

    The institute has edited and published “Ethics Series of Internet, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence”, including Virtue under The Mouse, National Governance and Network Ethics, Ethics ofNetwork CommunicationEthics ofArtificial Intelligence and Big Data, Data Ethics and Algorithm Ethics, etc. It also has some translated works, such as Ethical Principles of Life Medicine, Hacker Ethics and The Spirit of The Information Age, and Iron Cage Or Utopia: Morality and Law in Cyberspace, Computer Ethics and Professional Responsibility.       焦国成

      Jiao Guocheng, born in August 1957, has been a teacher of the School of Philosophy in Renmin University of China since 1984. He is the vice president of Philosophical Association of Beijing and the Secretary-General of China Environmental Ethics Research Association. His main research fields are Ethics, Chinese Traditional Culture and Contemporary Spiritual Civilization Construction. He once went to the Institute of Ethics in Japan, the University of Wales in the UK, and Taiwan Province of China as visiting scholars or the main members of cooperative research projects.

      His representative works include "The Discussion of Ancient Chinese Relations between Others and themselves", "General Theory of Chinese Ethics", "Reflections on Chinese Traditional Culture", "Ethics", etc. He has won the first National Humanities and Social Science Research Outstanding Achievement Award, and the National "Five-One Project" Award from the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China.

He was the Former President of the International Society for Philosophy of Value (ISVI), Vice President of China Association For Ethical Studies, Vice President of China Association For Value Philosophy Research , President of Ethics Association of Hubei, and Vice President of Philosophical Association of Hubei.       Wu Qiantao, male, born in December 1949, from Nanyang City, Henan Province. Graduated from the Department of Political History, Zhengzhou University in 1973. In 1981, he graduated from the Department of Political Science of Henan University with a master's degree in philosophy. In 1989, he graduated from the Department of Philosophy, Renmin University of China, majoring in ethics, with a doctorate in philosophy. Since 1990, have been invited by Japanese academic groups, enterprises, and non-governmental organizations to give lectures or conduct academic research in Japan many times.

      He is currently a senior professor and doctoral supervisor of Tsinghua University. He is the Secretary-General of the China Association For Ethical Studies, Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee of the National University Ideological and Political Education Research Association, and Chief expert of the textbook compilation group of the Central Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project "Moral Cultivation and Legal Foundation". He is mainly engaged in the teaching and research of Ethics, Ideological and Political Education.       Li Jianhua, male, born in 1959, native of Taojiang County, Hunan, member of the Communist Party of China, Ph.D., professor, doctoral tutor, expert with Special Government Allowance of the State Council, and Distinguished Professor of the Yangtze River Scholars Program of the Ministry of Education.

      He is mainly engaged in ethics, public management, political philosophy research, especially in the fields of moral psychology, political ethics, legal ethics, public management ethics and other fields which formed his own research characteristics. .

      He has published 35 books, and published more than 290 academic papers in newspapers or periodicals such as Guangming Daily, People's Daily, Chinese Social Sciences, and Philosophical Studies. He has presided over and completed 3 projects of the National Social Science Fund, including 1 key project of the ninth Five-Year Plan; 1 National Social Science Fund key project in 2007, and 2 Humanities and Social Sciences projects of the Ministry of Education. He has presided over 1 major project of philosophy and social science of the Ministry of Education, and 4 projects of Social Science Foundation of Hunan Province. He has won the 1st Prize of the First Hunan Social Science Planning Project Excellent Achievement, the 2nd prize of the 4th Hunan Social Science Excellent Achievement, the 3rd prize of the 6th, 7th and 9th Hunan Social Science Excellent Achievement and other awards.

      His courses like "Moral Psychology" and "Administrative Ethics" won the Excellent Courses of Hunan Province . "Administrative Ethics" was awarded the National Excellent Course.       Wan Junren , born in 1958 in Yueyang, Hunan province. He studied at Sun Yat-Sen University and Peking University successively, studying ethics (history) under the tutelage of Mr. Zhou Fucheng Zhou and then studying Chinese classical humanities and poetry under Mr. Fan Zeng. In September 1986, he stayed as a teacher in the Philosophy Department of Peking University, and was promoted to professor in September 1992. In May 1999, he was employed by Tsinghua University, and was selected as the "Hundred Talents Project" of Tsinghua University, and presided over the reconstruction of the Philosophy Department of Tsinghua University. From 2000 to 2011, he served as the chairman of Philosophy Department of Tsinghua University, and in 2012, he served as the Dean of Humanities School of Tsinghua University. He has been the Member of the Academic Committee and head of the Basic Arts Group , as well as the member of the School Professor Nomination Committee in Tsinghua University. He works in Peking University, Zhejiang university, Wuhan university, Sun Yat-sen university, Central South University and other universities as a part-time professor or distinguished professor. He is the Chair Professor of Cheung Kong Scholars Programme , the president of China Association For Ethical Studies, the chief expert and convener of “Ethics” of “National Marxist theory research and construction project”, the vice president of Chinese Confucian Academy, the vice president of Philosophical Association of Beijing, and the mentor of Chinese Culture Academy of Peking University.       He is the general convener of the "Science and Technology Ethics and Art" project of Southeast University, the national "985" Philosophy and social Science Innovation Base; Chief Expert of the "Theoretical and Practical Research on the Construction of Ideology, Morality and Harmonious Ethics in the Process of Building a Socialist Harmonious Society", a major bidding project of national Philosophy and Social Science in 2005; Chief Expert of “Research on the Diversified and Variety Characteristics and Laws of Current Ideology, Morality and Culture in China”, a major commissioned project of Jiangsu Province in 2006.       Yu Yong, male, born in October 1961, from Huizhou, Anhui Province, Ph.D., researcher and deputy director of Institute of Philosophy of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, director of Ethics Research Office, researcher of the Center for Applied Ethics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, professor and doctoral supervisor of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Meanwhile he is a part-time professor in Southeast University, a special researcher of Ethics and Moral Education Research Center of Xuzhou Normal University and  visiting fellow at the Center for Applied Ethics, Peking University. His research mainly focuses on Western Ethics, Principles of Ethics, Applied Ethics. He has published a number of works such as "Research on Moral Rights" and dozens of papers in newspapers or periodicals like “Guangming Daily”.       Li Ping, female, born in 1957, from Jiaoling, Guangdong Province, PhD in Philosophy and Ethics, Professor. She is a member of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and an expert in the Philosophy Review Group of the National Social Science Foundation. She is the first batch of national-level candidates for the "New Century Talent Project", an expert with outstanding National Contribution. She won the Fourth National Teaching Teacher Award in 2008, the second prize of the National Excellent Teaching Achievement Award, the honorary title of the first hundred outstanding "two courses" teachers of the Ministry of Education, the provincial training object and advanced individual excellence award of the "Thousand Hundred Ten Project" of Guangdong colleges, and the outstanding award of Guangdong Province Young and middle-aged scientist, the first prize of Excellent Teaching Achievement Award in Guangdong Province. She serves as the vice President of China Association For Ethical Studies and the President of the Guangdong Ethics Society. Since 1999, she has served successively as Vice President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-Sen University.

      She graduated from the Philosophy Department of Sun Yat-Sen University in January 1982 and stayed on as a teacher. She has successively been visiting scholars in the Department of Philosophy of Peking University, Shanghai International Studies University, the School of Education of Pacific Lutheran University, and the Yenching Institute of Harvard University. In 1994, she was admitted to the Department of Philosophy of Renmin University of China, where she studied Ethics under Professor Luo Guojie (Professor Jiao Guocheng was her associate tutor), and received a PhD in Philosophy in 1997. She is currently a doctoral tutor for two majors in Ethics, Marxist theory and ideological and political education at Sun Yat-sen University.

      Her research mainly focuses on Comparative Ethics and Comparative Moral Education, Bioethics, Value Education, School Moral Education, etc. She has presided over more than ten projects of National Philosophy and Social Science Funds and other projects above the provincial and ministerial level. She is currently Secretary of the Party Committee of Hebei University of Economics and Business, and Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Affairs Committee of the 12th People's Congress of Hebei Province. She is an Outstanding Expert in provincial management of Hebei Province, an Expert enjoying Special Allowances from the State Council, a young and middle-aged scientific and technological management expert with outstanding contributions in Hebei Province; an alternate member of the 7th and 8th Hebei Provincial Party Committee, and the Standing Committee of the 12th Hebei Provincial People's Congress Member. In the meanwhile, she is the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Affairs Committee of the 12th People's Congress of Hebei Province. She is also the Vice President of China Association For Ethical Studies and the President of Hebei Ethics Society.

      With Economic Ethics and Political Ethics as her main research directions, she has been engaged in Ethics teaching and research for more than 20 years. She has presided over a number of National Social Science Fund projects, Hebei Provincial Social Science Fund projects, and teaching reform projects of the Ministry of Education. Her research results have won many provincial awards. She has published more than 50 academic papers in "Guangming Daily", "Ethics and Civilization" and other newspapers and periodicals; she has won the Hebei Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award and the Hebei Provincial Social Science Fund Project Outstanding Achievement Award, etc.

    • Yao Xinzhong

      姚新中

      Yao Xinzhong, born in February 1957, is a Chair Professor of Yangtze River Scholar of the Ministry of Education, and a senior cultural and educational expert of the Bureau of Foreign Experts. Since 1991, he has served as a researcher, lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor (Reader), and professor (2002) at the University of Wales in the United Kingdom, and concurrently as the head of the Department of Religion and Theology (1999-2002). In 1998, he served as a life member of Clare Hall College, University of Cambridge. In 2004, he served as a senior researcher at The Ramsay Research Centre, Oxford University, UK. Since 2008, he has been a professor at King's College London, and founded the China Research Institute. Since 2013, he has been a professor at Renmin University of China.

      He is also the Yangtze River Scholars Chair Professor of Southeast University, the first batch of distinguished professors of Hunan Province's "Furong Scholars Program", Weilun Distinguished Professor of Tsinghua University, and deputy director of the World Ethics Center of Peking University Institute for Advanced Humanities, deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Chinese Philosophy, deputy Editor-in-Chief of Frontiers of Philosophy in China.

      In the fields of Comparative Ethics, Religious Sociology, Confucianism, and Chinese Religion, he has published 7 single or co-authored English works, 5 Chinese works, and published nearly 100 Chinese and English papers in international and domestic academic journals.

    • Xiao Qunzhong

      肖群忠

      Xiao Qunzhong, male, born in Bin County, Shaanxi Province in March 1960, Ph.D., professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Philosophy, Renmin University of China. He is mainly engaged in ethics and traditional Chinese ethics research. He is the winner of the "National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award" (2002), the winner of the "New Century Excellent Talents Training Program of the Ministry of Education" (2005), and the winner of the title of "Top Ten Teaching Models" of Renmin University of China (2009). He received an honorary doctorate degree in filial piety from Seongsan Filial Piety College (2009). In 2011, he won the "First Prize of the First Excellent Academic Achievement Award" of China Association For Ethical Studies (1980-2010). He was selected into the "2011 List of Outstanding Chinese Humanities and Social Scientists" (2011) published by the China Alumni Association. In 2015, he won the first prize in the paper category of the Second Outstanding Achievement Award of China Association For Ethical Studies (2010-2015).

      He has published more than 200 academic papers in newspapers and periodicals such as "Philosophy Research", "Guangming Daily", "Journal of Peking University", "Journal of Renmin University of China", "Philosophy and Culture", "Research on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics", and has published more than 10 academic works.

      His representative works mainly include: "Filaity and Chinese Culture" (2001, People's Publishing House); this book is an authoritative work in this research field, and it is still published in  traditional characters in Taiwan. "Fifteen Lectures on Chinese Moral Wisdom" (2008, Peking University Press) is printed three times in the past ten years; "Ethics of Daily Life Behavior" (2018, Renmin University of China Press), is an important book of innovative achievements in the field of Ethics. Currently, he presides over the key research project of the National Social Science Fund "Inheritance and Promotion of Chinese Traditional Virtues and the Realization of the Chinese Dream", which aims to reveal the contemporary value of Chinese traditional virtues, to recast the soul of national culture and morality, and to improve the overall moral quality of the Chinese nation. His online online video public class "Eight Lectures on Confucian Ethics" was rated as a High-Quality Video Public Class by the Ministry of Education, and was widely praised and affirmed by the society.

    • Wang Shuqin

      王淑芹

      Wang Shuqin, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor of Capital Normal University, Dean of the School of Marxism, Head of Beijing Key Discipline.     • Deng Anqing

      邓安庆

      Deng Anqing was born in Ruichang, Jiangxi province. Professor of Philosophy School of Fudan University, doctoral supervisor, academic leader of Ethics Section, German "Humboldt scholar". He is also the vice President of Shanghai Ethics Society, the standing director of The Chinese Society for the History of Foreign Philosophy, and the rotating chairman of the German Philosophy Professional Committee of the Chinese Modern Foreign Philosophy Society. His main research fields are German Philosophy, General History of Western Ethics and Applied Ethics.

      He is also the chief editor of "Ethical Scholarship" series [1], the chief editor of "History of Practical Philosophy" and "The Universal Library of World Classics -- History of Philosophy" (Chinese and Western Publishing House). He is the chief expert of the major national project of philosophy and social Science, "The General History of Western Moral Philosophy". He has published more than 20 academic monographs and translated world philosophical classics. He has published more than 150 academic papers in Chinese social Sciences, Philosophical Studies, Monthly Journal of Philosophy and Culture (A&HCI), Daofeng Christian Cultural Review (A&HCI) and other quality periodicals.

    • Yang Guorong

      杨国荣

      Yang Guorong was born in October 1957 in Zhuji, Zhejiang Province. Professor of Philosophy, vice chairman of academic Committee of East China Normal University, dean of School of Humanities and Social Sciences, director of Institute of Chinese Modern Ideology and Culture.  Cheung Kong Scholars of Ministry of Education, Member of the Philosophy Assessment Committee of academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.  

      His research interests include Chinese philosophy, Comparative philosophy between China and the West, ethics, metaphysics, etc. In the fields of philosophy in the Pre-Qin Period, Neo-Confucianism in the Song and Ming Dynasties, modern Chinese philosophy, moral philosophy, metaphysics and other fields, he has published more than 10 academic works, the main part of which is included in the Works of Yang Guorong. There are 10 books have been published overseas, and many books have been translated into English, German, and Korean.  In addition, he has published more than 150 academic papers in domestic and international academic journals such as "Chinese Social Sciences", Philosophy: East and West, Dao: A Journal of Comparative Philosophy, Journal of Chinese Philosophy. In 2012, the International Academic Journal Contemporary Chinese Thought (Summer 2012, Vol. 43 No. 04) was published in the United States with Yang Guorong's Concrete Metaphysics ("Yang Guorong's Concrete Metaphysics") as the title. His major academic part-time jobs include vice President of The Chinese Society for the History of Philosophy, Vice President of the Chinese Confucius Society, director of the International Confucian Federation, President of the Shanghai Comparative Studies on Chinese and Western Philosophy and Culture, and editorial member of the American Comparative Philosophy Journal Dao: A Journal of Comparative Philosophy, etc.

    • Gong Qun

      Gong Qun, born in 1952, in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, Ph.D., professor and doctoral supervisor. His academic monographs include: "Youth Ethics", "On Life", "Original Taoism", "Contemporary Chinese Social Ethical Life", "Chinese Business Morality", "Contemporary Western Moral Theory and Utilitarian Studies", "The Reconstruction of  Moral Utopia”, “Rawls' Political Philosophy”, etc.; his translations include "After Virtue", "A Brief History of Ethics", "Ethics Theory", etc.; he has more than 70 papers of various types and more than 3.5 million words of academic writing. His current research directions are Ethics Theory, the History of Western Ethics Ideological, Political Philosophy and Applied Ethics.

    • Zhang Huaicheng

      Zhang Huaicheng, male, born in March 1957, changde, Hunan province. He graduated from Political Science Department of Hunan Normal University in 1981. In 1987, he graduated from The Department of Philosophy of Renmin University of China and got the master degree of Philosophy. In 1997, he graduated from The Institute of Ethics of Hunan Normal University and got the doctor's degree of Philosophy. He was promoted to professor in 1993. He is currently the dean of School of Public Administration, Hunan Normal University, professor of Philosophy, doctoral supervisor, member of philosophy Evaluation Group of Academic Degrees Committee under the State Council, member of expert group of National Post-doctoral Management Committee, Outstanding social science expert of Hunan Province, director of Chinese Society of Ethics, Vice chairman of Hunan Society of Ethics, Vice President of Hunan Institute of Administration, Vice Chairman of Hunan Confucius Society, Vice Chairman of Hunan Institute of Administration, and adjunct Professor of International Mundell Entrepreneur University.

      Professor Zhang Huaicheng is a doctoral program and academic leader in Chinese philosophy history of Hunan Normal University. He has been engaged in the teaching and research of Chinese philosophy history, Chinese ethical thought history and other courses for a long time. He has presided over 11 teaching reform projects, 3 National Social Science Foundation projects and 8 provincial and ministerial-level social science foundation projects. He has published 20 books including Family and Ethics in China and nearly 100 academic papers in domestic and overseas journals. Among them, there are two Works in Korean, five works in Taiwan and 10 articles in Taiwan periodicals. Moreover, he has conducted visits and academic exchanges in Japan, South Korea, Europe and other places.

      He has won 1 second prize of national teaching achievement, 2 first prizes of provincial teaching achievement, and 4 Excellent Teaching Awards of Hunan Normal University. He is also one of the "Top ten Model teachers' Ethics of Gui Union" and the "Advanced individual of three Education" of Hunan Normal University. The "History of Chinese Philosophy" taught by him was rated as the best course of the school and the provincial level, the "History of Chinese Philosophy" written by him was rated as the provincial Excellent Textbook, and the teaching team led by him was rated as the Provincial Level Teaching Team.

    • Wang Fulin

      王福玲

      Wang Fulin, from Fenyang, Shanxi. In 2012, she graduated from the School of Philosophy of Wuhan University with a doctorate degree in Ethics. From 2012 to 2014, she did postdoctoral research in the School of Philosophy, Renmin University of China. She mainly studies Kant's Ethics and Dignity Issues. She presided over the 2015 National Social Science Foundation Youth Project "Hierarchical Research on the Concept of Dignity" and the 2013 Education Humanities and Social Science Research Youth Project "Research on Human Dignity from the Perspective of Ethics". She has published more than ten articles in core journals such as "Philosophy Research", "Philosophy and Culture", "Moral and Civilization", "Ethics Research", and published the monograph "Kant's Dignity Thought Research".
